The
high-lipped bunker shot is one of the most sensitive stroke-saving
methods in the game. Take a look at the following time-lapse instruction
to turn a potential pitfall into a highlight of your round.
Set
your feet gently but firmly in order to provide yourself with a
good stance to make your approach.
Make
a fairly upright swing
Because
of the resistance the sand will provide you must make a full
swing in these situations.
A
steeper angle of approach is necessary to get the ball
airborne quickly.
Splash
the sand without making contact with the ball. The sand will
carry the ball onto the green.
The
ball goes where the sand goes. Aim accordingly.
The
swing from the sand imitates your full golf swing, but does not
feature a full release of the club. Instead a
"chicken-wing" finish is more effective.
Swing
the club around your body to a high finish.
Be
sure to complete your followthrough, otherwise your likely to
leave your ball in the bunker.
